Depending on your brokerage it may take an extra day or 2 before you receive your payouts. I'm with Scotia and regular dividends always come in a day later than they are suppose to, specials, supplementals, shares and fractional share payouts may come on a day later, but sometimes it takes 2-5 days to appear. This is my first dividend from AEM with the conversion thing I don't know ...more

I am with CIBC and my dividends always show up a day later than they are suposed to (today) and my brother who is with TD always get his on the day they are suposed to arrive (yesteday). Better late than never. ...more

Yeah I also tried to keep the div in US funds for a travel stash but like you my broker informed me I would have to hold the US stock.  I have thought about holding the US version but I don't want the tax hassles right now, the cRA is a big enough pain in the butt and the conversion rate isn't horrible. Obviously there is a double loss as I will have to convert back to US funds ...more

Your probably right, if I journal it over I would get hit by IRS and CRA on both dividends and one day down the road Capital gains... Its likely worth taking the hit on only playing with CRA
