RE:Deere going after Ag Leader -- Kinze for patent infringementIt seems that Ag Leader is running into patent issues in multiple areas, all associated with their new product direction. This may help answer the question about how careful or calculated Ag Leader was when embarking on this strategy... the answer as it turns out may be "they weren't"! Firms like Ag Leader are facing a squeeze given that they don't own much IP and can get undercut by the likes of AJX in the secondary market AND also when trying to sell directly to OEMs. It smells like a deseperate move by the firm but until these legal issues play out we won't know for sure. Deere has a large precicion ag. patent portfolio, much like AJX but broader, and they have VERY deep pockets!
