SP was $2.50...now $3.05 after million$ $pent

I am also in the NCIB camp that they are waste of shareholders $$$

How does a SP increase of 50 cents "put cash in my account" as one poster claims?

One would have to  sell to profit from the slight increase in SP...at which point you are no longer a shareholder...just a flipper and no longer get to vote at AGM's or receive div's.

I anticipate no longer being a shareholder once a Major offers to buy AOI out at a significant premium to today's SP, yes to growing the Co thru the drill bit or M&A...both which require $$$

GripnRip:   I can see your math challenged.    Let me help you.     Let's say you had 1000sh.    At $2.50 it is worth $2500.00.    Your investment today is worth $3.00 plus.     Using round numbers that is $3,000.     Your up $500.   IF you sell only a fraction of your shares,   lets say ...more

You can't argue with "income investors". They want to buy, hold forever (smart in a cyclical commodity ?), sleep tight and collect the divi, while sleeping. It's the lazy option with the mindset "stock will rise forever in the longterm".

On a down day for Oil ..down 2.6% atm AOI and Enerplus are the only 2 Canadian Oil stock that I track that are up on the day .. so I am of the view that NCIB is well worth the money as the last few weeks have shown.  However,  if you are in the camp that you need the cash from dividends then I can see how this would not work for you .. I also think you are naive in thinking an oil major ...more

My math is just fine...in a 10 bagger will sell 10% and let rest ride if not a frothy market. I do see we use different numbers of scale 100,000 shares was $2.50, say I hold 3 years for $5 buyout - Now worth $500,000 + 7x div $$0.066 (using CDN rate last div payment) = $523,205 Using your math that everytime SP goes up 50 cents SELL, SELL, SELL 100,000 100,000 - ($50,000/$3) - 83,333 shares ...more

@Gripnrip Though I understand the charme of buy back low...maybe they should just set a floor f.e. $C 3.00. On the other side...mc is Us $1.07 b...which still looks like a bargain, depending on the price of oil.
