Wonder if it has anything to do with the Dec 19th addition to S&P/TSX Composite Index. Reading that some funds that track the index will need shares????  That is a pretty good chunk of stock. 14M shares would be about 3% of the outstanding shares...

That's a good point in regards to AOI being added to the S&P index, thus funds rebalancing. Now, would be nice as a share holder to see a benefit being added to the index instead of a 30% decline in stock price.

I agree with that.. Too bad those 13-14M shares were not bought in the mid $3.00 level! Was the stop of the buybacks part of the move to the index too???

So who sold and who bought? Possibly the Lundin's. Who else would have millions of shares to sell. If management is the buyer they would still have a ways to go before they hit the maximum allowable limit.  From Nov 21 NR. According to marketscreener.com website these are the only ones with that many shares: Stampede Natural Resources SARL 66,569,922 13.9% Fidelity Management & Research Co. LLC 19,592,101 4.10%
