But with all the volume traded you'd think that those dumping would be almost done. Volume now is likely shorts trading amongst themselves, and hoping.

Shorts that shorted much higher may prefer to cover in 2023 to defer taxes unless they have an offsetting loss .

Don't forget about the likely selling of large chunks of AQN by Mutual Fund / Other Big Investment Managers who have until around mid-December to sell their position to prevent their loss on AQN from showing up on their year-end financial statements so their clients won't see it appear on those documents. Many may have sold already, though some may not yet have pulled the trigger.
