I had a thought. If the powers that be need to push this over the line, keeping full control, they would probably need a few more shares in their control. Could this be a reason why so many shares are being bought? If my thoughts are correct, could selling shares into this situation help the takeover team's voting power, and ensure the deal goes through?

So am I correct in thinking the takeover team would need an additional 26% of shares based over the two largest holdings who hav 40% between them (who are in on the takeover). So approximately in the range of an additional 250 million shares to get there 66 and 2/3% majority ?

So if it's not Alamos or the takeover team buying the shares, who is? The offer is not a great investment. There are many better investments out there... I'm having a hard time wondering why anyone, other than the takeover team, wanting to buy into this situation. Has anyone got any good answers

Maybe the new bidders who will make a better offer

Even though I agree that it is a possibility for a competitive company bid to pick up some shares. I cannot see how buying these few shares would make a difference to an overall competitive bid.
