SANTIAGO - Output should return to normal indays at the world's No. 5 copper mine, El Teniente in Chile, afterthousands of contractors abandoned a weakening strike, mine ownerCodelco said on Thursday.

The recovery in output comes after staffworkers also decided to return to work on Friday after strikers beganwage talks with their employers to resolve a sometimes violent 16-daywalkout that is losing strength.

Mine owner Codelco confirmed the mine was producing at 51 per cent capacity on Thursday.
