Shorting GCM common shares Baranja asked, "How do you know this anonymous is the short?"
According to short reports, GCM was fairly heavily shorted during the last half of February--over 25% of the volume traded during that period. My view--that would have had a very significant downward effect on the share price during that time. I have no idea what house or houses are doing the shorting, although it makes sense to me that they might be using the anonymous cloak.
Regarding the comment, " this got to be the dumbest short on the planet"--not at all. I can think of at least one sensible strategy which is relatively independent of gold price, although in my experience, not easy for the average retail investor to execute.
