This was reported by the web page First Page in which it further explains that according to the demand Colombia is not complying with the Trade Promotion Agreement between the Republic of Colombia and Canada (the Colombia-Canada FTA). The second essential cause for which this mining company sued Colombia has to do with the Colombian state 's lack of action through its authorities to prevent and respond to the protests and terrorist attacks that caused economic losses for the mining company, including Those that occurred in February 2016 perpetrated by the Eln. Caldas' government secretary, Carlos Alberto Piedrahita, confirmed that Marmato Mayor Julio Vargas Chica has breached 68 resolutions of the National Mining Agency , which request the administrative protection of some of these mining titles of the Canadian multinational. Piedrahita added that since August of 2015 the mayor of Marmato, a court of the republic notified the order to execute the eviction of these titles and to date the president has not complied with that sentence . The secretary also pointed out that in that same sense his office, the Government of Caldas and the Attorney General's Office have asked him to comply with the eviction order. The Secretary of Government has repeatedly stated that the mayor of Marmato is in contempt of law . Meanwhile the traditional Marmato miners are opposed to having them evicted because they consider that all their lives have dedicated their economic activity to this type of mining in those lots. Caracol Radio wanted to know the statements of the Mayor of Marmato , Julio Vargas Chica, but did not answer his cell phone, although we marked him insistently and left a message in the mailbox. However, the local president has repeatedly stated that he does not agree with the eviction and that a peaceful solution to the problem must be sought to avoid disturbing public order in his municipality. It should be recalled that in 2011, Gran Colombia Gold acquired through Medoro Resources the Marmato mining project, which is estimated to have 14 million ounces of gold and 90 million silver.
