Fools

FoolsFor the record, President Petro reaches his 100 day mark on November 14th, so according to his Environment Minister the fun begins in less than five weeks time. Caracol radio in its report added a couple of interesting details (also translated): During the meeting, the Minister wore the t-shirt of the Committee for the Defence of Water and of Santurbn (Comit de Defensa del Agua y de Santurbn), the environmental group that has organized protest marches against mining projects in the pramo de Santurbn area of direct influence. Caracol Radio also learned that the Ministry of the Environment has appointed Mayerly Lpez, one of the most influential local environmentalist and member of the committee, to be its local liaison officer. And then The next morning the mayor of Bucaramanga, Juan Carlos Crdenas, demanded a meeting with the Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vlez, during a radio interview on Caracol Radio. He said that he had three fundamental issues; first that the pramo de Santurbn were protected and for this to happen, the mayor said that the environmental permit for the mining megaproject has to be denied. The project he refers to is of course the Soto Norte project, owned by Arabian capitals MINESA and now being developed as a JV with Aris Mining (ARIS.to). 10 / 09 / 22
