Biden

biden did what he said he do cancel the permits .. doesnt mean the project is dead .. states can make there own decision later an they can move the project forward.. just going to take time an canadian influence..

What the hell good is the USMCA when old man Biden can overrule it by decree.  It's no different than a dictatorship.  Can Trudeau ignore the legislative process and do the same thing?  If he can then perhaps he should threaten to do the same thing on American products entering Canada. Hopefully we can recover our $48M through the courts or with a less politically motivated ...more

The Canadian prime minister very much has the power equivalent to the US president's "executive order", its called "Order in Council". That being said, like an executive order, its not immune from legal challenges

Just how far can an Order in Council go?  Far enough to overrule the Charter of Rights and Freedom?  I don't think so but Trudeau should impose his will over the USMCA in retaliation if he has the power to do so.  There must be some Florida or California oranges that he can stop and let rot at the border.

The USA's Nuclear Arms Agreement with Russia expires in February.  After the Democrats dragged Russia through the mud with their Russia!  Russia!  Russia! hoax, one can only speculate how the Russians are going to respond to dealing with old man Biden.

As with the US system, alot of these questions regarding executive power have never been tested/pushed to their full extent. Generally speaking, most PMs or Presidents usually don't go out their way to see how far they can push the envelope. That being said, the Westminister parliamentary system in Canada, in general makes it easier to govern/pass legislation than the US congressional system ...more
