In my case, my broker cannot lend my shares to a short seller except shares bought on margin.
My understanding at TDDI, which could be wrong, is that any shares in a margin account can be loaned while TFSA, RRSP, and cash accounts cannot loan out shares. A way to prevent the loan of shares in a margin account is to enter a limit price sell order at some high price that has no reasonable prospect of being hit. They don't want to loan shares that are slated for sale.
