Dot plot
Dot plot Jerome Powell stated that Fed funds would be 5.1% at the end of 2024. By the end of 2025 and 2026, it would be 4.1% and 3.1% respectively. That is a very long time to get back to normal but they are also assuming there will be no hiccups along the way. Any significant credit event or rise in unemployment would quickly change their viewpoint and the cuts would be larger and faster. Possibly back to zirp.
Lastly, I would like to leave off on one final point. When did the Fed ever get it right?
