RE:RE:Herve Blandin (Motley Fool) on BB

RE:RE:Herve Blandin (Motley Fool) on BBFact, chen said, something to the effect "they are stuck with me until November 2023".  When the CEO, any CEO says this you know things are broken!

THRK wrote: One of the points in this article that struck me was the R&D spending by both BB and CRWD. BB=24%(240M) and CRWD 25%(166M) of revenue over the past 12 mnths. We all agree that the path to a BB resurgence is increasing sales dramatically. JC has laid out a plan to do just this, however for their R&D spending over 12 mnths CRWD has increased their revenue by around 100% while BB has had no significant increase to revenue. By JC's own fcst, over the next 5 yrs the mkt for endpoint security is fcst to grow from 14B/ann to 74B/ann. This represents 70%ish of all of the market growth that JC has fcst is available to him. As I mentioned prior, oversite, is what I believe is needed. BB is big and has 4 distinct and identified mkt sectors and if your not careful a squeaky wheel can be getting all the grease. CRWD has a simpiler task, spend 100% of their R&D budget on endpoint security. it's getting results. Perhaps the former Cylance president or CEO did this math when he agreed to join BB but abandoned when he discovered this was not to be. But if BB isn't spending 70% of their R&D budget on endpoint security after identifing it as the largest, by far, growth sector, then someone needs to ask the question, "WHY". Maybe there is a good reason. Certainly CRWD is proving that a 166M spend on R&D in that sector can result in around 250M in additional sales. Maybe JC just has too much on his plate or maybe he is too focused on roughing up the sales dept when he is not making the numbers. Either way, the BOD is not paid to accept excuses. Just a bit of simple arithmetic could have them asking some very pointed questions to their CEO. It really is time to take a look again at how BB is spending their money. I believed JC did a good job in repositioning the company and there is a ton of potential, but it is time now to move the company forward and with some urgency imo. GLTA
