RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:a small celebrationI regret that my original post under this subject has taken over the BlackBerry board. However I am dismayed that my post expressing happiness that my wife and I are now fully vaccinated (we are seniors), and encouraging others to do likewise as recommended by the health authorities has caused such a reaction. We know many people, some who are seniors, who are desperately trying to book appointments for vaccinations but are unable to do so because of the demand. dwolfensen made reference to the Delta variant, and unfortunately it is well on its way to becoming the dominant strain already. Yasch said, "I'm still feeling a bit stunned that the ordinary day-to-day looking out for our neighbours (especially seniors) can be tossed into the garbage as "socialism."" Unfortunately, it seems that many people are driven solely by the pursuit of their individual rights while totally disregarding the collective right of the others in the communities where they live. When individual rights absolutely subordinate the collective right, how is there to be any trust between neighbours? Is there a point at which pursuing your individual rights permits you to break the law? This has nothing to do with socialism. It has everything to do with living in a society of safety, trust and harmony, one in which personal entitlement must have some limits so that people can comfortably co-exist.
This is my last post on this subject as I do not want to spread any more "propaganda" than I have been accused of doing. My apologies in advance to those who are in some way offended by this post.
