From BayStBull:
After reading recent news articles about Tesla and Elon Musk's ambitious plan to be the first to launch fully autonomous robotaxi in US I came to the following conclusion. If he wants safety certification to launch fully autonomous robotaxi he will have to use QNX instead of Linux in the heart of his Tesla. Musk has been boasting to launch fully autonomous driverless taxi next year for last three years. The main hurdle is safety certifications from automotive authority. Until he uses open source Linux as the core OS it looks impossible. Ultimately he would need to use ASIL D safety certified QNX Nutrino as the OS. When Musk tweets he is going to use QNX instead of Linux as the core OS in Tesla this will rocket to the moon instantly.
From NeoRye:
Notice all these cyber attacks and compromised systems stem from bugs in software code? Now put that garbage (my term to pass SH's censors) in a car going down the highway at 75 times millions of them. That’s why QNX is so valuable, the microkernel architecture reduces the potential bugs and it’s the only safety certified EV OS commercially available. It’s why this is a $100 stock. I’ll wait. “As the amount of software and automation in a car grows, meeting functional safety standards, like ISO 26262, and stringent cybersecurity regulations like WP.29 becomes more challenging - and more critical to success“
