BTW, I'm not saying that there's anything new or earth-shaking in Chen's message today. IMO, he is merely addressing the decommissioning of the infrastructure and services of the legacy software pertaining to the phone operating system. Media outlets are making a big deal of this and BB probably anticipated this so they prepared this message to say that BB is no longer a bloody phone

Whattya think Digs, a condition laid down by patent buyer? If it is then could very well be indicative of a single purchaser. Don't think it would be part of the FB settlement unless they're the patent buyer too. Only saying this because of timing so it's just conjecture on my part. Wasn't it Jan 15 of last year when settlement agreement was announced. Almost a year now

It could be a condition of the "phone patents" being bought by someone launching a new phone based on the old BB technology. I guess the purchaser could be the new phone company (FB or someone else), or it could be a "patent company" licensing to the phone company. Either way, BB is out of the phone game and (hopefully) moving on to greener pastures.

Then there's the case of the missing BB 5G Handset. Someone I think, is stipulating that we get right out of the phone business. Missing handset, death of the BB phone, who knows? Sounds mighty suspicious to me. I'm guessing we've done our part should this be a condition of sale.
