Protected settlement/qualifying settlement

I believe fb and bb entered into a protected settlement for purposes of capital gains tax...( which lends itself to the notion of monetary settlement) and the next phase should be a qualifying settlement. Im flyin the wire here learning as i go tho .

here is the link to the settlement story via marketrealist. It refers to the settlement as protected,....which in my understanding is tied to tax implications regarding the essentially escrowed funds. I think.

im nor sure whats down this rabbit hole, but it looksike tge case is in review via earlier posts,.......and "protected settlement" is a vehicle for capital gains liability through the process of moving to qualifying settlement......but i am an industrial maintenamce tech and an aspiring artist so im waaaay out of my fieldhouse here.

to me it implies there is still money on the line in a settlement that blackberry has won.
