RE:RE:The announcement by Airbus on the purchaseI think that all the rumors I hear about potential sales of A220-300, at Farnborough, will turn out to be annonced next week. I expect that the number of planes sold will be at least 60 or more as it would not make any sense for Airbus to announce the sale of 60 A220 to Jetblue and then dissapoint every one at Farnborough with either no sale or a very small number of sales.
One thing that Airbus is good at is to properly market planes in their inventory and take advantages of shows like Farnborough to do so.. To announce a sale to Jetblue with fanfare and then drop the ball at Farnborough would look terrible for Airbus.
The sale of 60 A220 prio to Farnborough had three main reasons:
a. Keep a customer happy who wanted to beat the crowd;
b. Show the world that a low cost carrier airline flying Embraer products decided to replace them all by A220 because it is a much better plane, but most important;
c. Send a signal to other airlines that they better make a decision early if they do not want to end up at the end of the queue.
I certainly do not have a chrystal ball but I am convinced that all the stars are lined up and we are going to have a hell of an interesting week during Farnborough.
I will be very dissapointed if we do not break $6 by the end of next week.
