This makes senseSell Belfast and Morocco as there are in the commercial aviation and the margins are not there. AB would want to squeeze Bombardier further on this division of aero structures as they are the major customer of Belfast and Morrocco. Bombardier was desperate to unload c series but they were smart enough to hang on to the wing production. AB probably thought they can squeeze bombardier after taking 50.01%. I am not 100% sure but A320neo nacelles contract was sign after c series deal. AB might have baited bombardier with lucrative nacelle deal in pretext to take it back later at discount.
Bombardier can’t be to greedy and sell to China as the Global fuselage is made by AB owned company.
CRJ intergration on to aviation division now makes sense if what flightglobal is reporting about RR engines. Use triumph to adapt Global wings for Challenger and use RR engines to replace current engines. Bombardier now has wing assembly and IP for its Global line thanks to buying that line from Triumphz. This should have less red tape. Bombardier had stretched the challenger to make 50 seater RJ and further stretched it to get it up to CRJ 900. Bombardier has been very successful doing stretches as Q400 is double stretch. This might just work as The Global jets roots also started from challenger. Now they will reverse it from Global to Challenger.
To me it makes sense unload all commercial aviation and intergrate all bizz jet business. They are getting rid of commercial wing and buying business jet wing assembly line. Also the there was an article on Lehman or Airinsight where the author went into detail explaining why the c series wing is too expensive and payout is too late to use them on bizz jets. Oblivious bombardier knows that which further reinforce why they want out.
