Moment terrified United Airlines passengers cheer as hero pilot executes 'textbook' emergency landing after engine catches fire on Boeing 777 20 minutes after take off and rains debris over a square mile of Denver

  • The Boeing 777-200 aircraft, with 231 passengers and 10 crew on board, was heading to Honolulu on Saturday from Denver International Airport
  • Debris struck the plane's right engine shortly after take off, causing it to erupt in flame and splutter thick black smoke
  • The incident forced the pilot to make an emergency landing back in Denver
  • Video recorded aboard Flight UA328 captured the moment it touched back down on the runway safely, causing the cabin to erupt into applause
  • Aviation safety experts said the plane, a 26-year-old 777, appeared to have suffered an uncontained and catastrophic engine failure
  • Remarkably, there were no injuries reported on board or on the ground
  • The airline declined to identify the pilot when pressed by DailyMail.com.
