Bombardier Inc. (BBD.B) - $2.50 – Paris Air Show preview; All eyes on the CSeries

RBC CM: Outperform (PT $3.50)

The 2015 Paris Airshow officially kicks off next week on Monday June 15. RBC CM has a full slate of meetings with the largest OEM’s and suppliers concentrated early in the week, which tends to be the busiest days for new announcements. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the show is the international debut of the CSeries. Bombardier will be bringing both the CS100 and CS300 to Paris, in the hopes of generating renewed buzz (and potentially orders). While management has tempered order expectations heading into Paris, RBC CM thinks BBD could announce a couple of order conversions (possibly with launch customer Lufthansa / Swiss Airlines). Having the CSeries aircraft physically in Paris should help drive deeper sales conversations with potential customers. Furthermore, RBC CM suspects that Bombardier will be making positive revisions to the performance attributes of the CSeries. Bombardier has promised that the CSeries will burn 20% less fuel than similar planes in production. With more than 1,600 flight-test hours completed, management is indicating that the test data is coming in better than expected, which RBC CM believes will be confirmed in Paris.
