I hear you and I have also occasionally been burned before. But a little bit of information is better than nothing. I find level 2 data useful when I have already deccided to buy or sell and looking for the optimal time to do it.

Looking at level 2 data one or two minutes before the market opens is a good indication if it is going up or down. Granted that 15 minutes later, the data could have changed drastically.
