RE:RE:Airbus CEO expresses need to cut A220 costs by 20 per centThere is 2 major factor which is causing a220 cost to be high. First the a220 is still in very early stage of production cycle compared to the life of the program. All cost associated with starting production including tools and initial training are front loaded. Second the volume needs to increase the more they can build per month the cheaper it gets per unit. Also having more orders allows for vendor to lower price per unit they charge and make up profit with volume. Bombardier aviation is going thru this change over phase as normal phase of business cycle on top on the entire company in the mids of turnaround plan.
