Regional carrier Gulf Air said yesterday it plans to buy or
lease 60 aircraft to triple its fleet over the next decade.
Gulf Air President and Chief Executive James Hogan told
reporters the Bahrain-based company would add "60 aircraft
over 10 years" as part of its long-term strategy.
He declined to give further details.
Gulf Air said in December it was in talks with Boeing Co,
Airbus, Embraer and Bombardier to expand its fleet. The
debt-ridden carrier currently runs 30 aircraft.
The troubled carrier is adding new destinations after
receiving a pledge for a cash injection of nearly $240 million
from owner states Bahrain, Oman and Abu Dhabi.
