You have to understand that when a typical dual engine aircraft loses an engine on takeoff ( for whatever reason ) the plane immediately acts as if its overloaded cuz it loses thrust and (depending on the plane) loses airspeed, likely to the point of a stall. You also end up with a destabilizing effect of the assymetrical thrust...basically all the thrust comes from one side and trys to steer the aircraft in the opposing direction, this would make the aircraft look very unstable in the air as the pilot fights the controls. Its really a brutal scenario, especially low to the ground, there's really nothing you can do if you dont have the altitude to go around, dump fuel and land.
One thing I will say is that this Bombardier aircraft specifically is known to be a very stable and reliable, virtually everything is state of the art. Odds are extremely low that its anything mechanical and even lower that its anything systemic.
