Martel's integrity on the line

Closing the Spirit deal this month will tell us whether we can trust Martel's word or not. Either he breaks away from the 5 years of lies Bellemare spewed or he joins the line behind him. The market right now is sending a clear message they don't believe any change is to come.

flamingold, exactly, and not only "The market right now is sending a clear message they don't believe any change is to come" also investors right now is sending a clear message they don't believe any change is to come that is why bbd.b share price is deteriorating day by day down 2 -3- 4 and sometimes 6% per day something meaningful must happen as situation is worrisome ...more

Don't you think the elephant in the room is still COVID19? I read some US analysts on General Dynamics (Gulfstream, BA's main competitor, is owned by them) and Textron and they weren't bullish on order outlook - 3 slight downgrades IIRC about 2 weeks ago - another thing I read FWIW is the long range business jet market is sagging due to travel restrictions.    If there is ...more

Possible but the market will punish the stock further for another failure to deliver on a promise. That's how it will be seen. Just another excuse in a long line of ones.
Comment by flamingogold on Oct 16, 2020 2:12pm
Let me also add that the extension of the original closing date was announced in May by Martel himself.... during Covid when he said the deal stands a good chance of going through by the new October deadline. So if the deal fails to close, it will be seen unfavourable by the market as another broken promise.
Comment by pablo87 on Oct 16, 2020 2:27pm
You're right.  Investors are probably not cutting them any slack regardless of mitigating circumstances because of all the broken promises - I don't think I'll ever forget the $25B sales figure bandied about by Bellemare a few years back. Lets also not forget tax loss season - Bombardier is probably near the very top of that list.

Hey Pablo. Can you believe this city? The Hogtown? They (T.O.) are now giving BT train/street car orders. I guarantee you they're paying full pop for those orders now to what will be Alstom. I guess they've realized their mistakes. Oh well they can't save the Bomber now, with one stupid order. Like Flamingo says though. You can't keep lying to people all these years, and expect ...more

Yup.  The commentaries on line were muted, the netizens pointing out that Alstom now owns Bombardier rail, LOL.  It may have finally dawned on the pols that its getting close to being all gone - C series, high speed rail, business jet.  Saving their legacy >> saving jobs? You tell me. The analysts downgrade GD and Textron due to "channel checks" (aka bookings suck), ...more

pablo, yes " update on deliveries and backlog, the very pieces of info that matters the most" " why on earth bbd never ever had declared BA backlog value??????????? does it mean, it is very low?????????? and now with covid, covid second and may be also 3rd wave it will be much less???????
Comment by Jim99999 on Oct 17, 2020 10:15am
Serious question Shamhorish, are you paid to post?  The business aircraft backlog is available in every financial report.  Dec 31, 2019: $14.4B;  Mar 31, 2020: $13.6B;  June 30, 2020: $12.9B. Note these numbers do not include CRJ program being wound down. Jim

jim, i wish i was paid, unfortunatly i am not and you are right, i guess i am really tired and disappointed what i meant is backlog for g7500, (how many G7500, G6500, G5500 BA has orders for? as those are the big ticket items that can help BA) when bellemare was asked many times, the reply was we are booked till 2022,  and that does not say much, booked till 2022, at which production rate ...more

I do not think it is reasonable to expect a company to make such competively sensitive information puiblic. Jim

I dont think so. Who would be foolish enough to pay for such stupid comments! < br/=""> To me its a sad illustration that COVID affects seriously the mental healh of too many. Darwin theory at its best. Now re. Future BA financial situation. I think that it's a total waste of time trying to figure out this from the available BBD numbers. Lets not forget that Martel promised to ...more

Hey Pablo. Likewise. Good to hash things over. Just needed a break after all the stupidity. So is the real remaining debt, after BT's departure to Alstom going to be around $3.7 range, give, or take some fluctuation then? Being out of touch. Haven't followed this as much, so I'm relying on your #'s. I'm rethinking my position. Like you said, the price is so low. I'm ...more

859, that's my best guess. Another poster was saying they might get more from BT (plausible), for ME a lot of uncertainty surrounding BA backlog and cashflow though. As you probably know, they get deposits when they sell plane. So when orders dry up, it creates a Larry Allen hole on the balance sheet. I can imagine how you must have felt. I desperately want Bombardier to sail smoothly again so ...more
