It is off the balance sheet. It's a contingency.

I can imagine the caricature already - the director of alstom IR in a frenzy over the stock being down 50%, a mob of angry shareholders at reception and the reflecting Alstom CEO relaxed Thinking eureka - Blame bombardier!. LOL.  that’s why the spin is that it’s going to take a long time, it’ll be water under the railroad bridge by then.

This will pass but now has cost the stock about 20% since the filing. The bomber has not agreed as of yet to arbitration and intend of fighting this for what is know so far. Alstom has  only requested arbitration. If the bomber has  a strong case they will not agree to arbitration as that means they would meet somewhere around the middle and the bomber would be liablle to some extent ...more

Bago - 'Just my thought take it for what it's worth' - Not worth much, your opinion as no value... I'm just kidding, had to tease you a bit... since you're my hero! This is a joke Bago. (Not passive-agressive, a real good-hearted joke, with your favorite 'no value' argument and your self-appointed 'hero' status) You are correct though... if Bombardier feels ...more

White. This $400M holdback by Alstom is NOT in Bombardiers books. How can you put something as an asset that you don't have yet. The best way to see this is. That Bombardier has a claim against Alstom for $400M. To which Alstom is trying NOT to pay to the Bomber. Alstom wants to go Arbitration to resolve Not to pay Bombardier that $400M. So the worst case scenario is Bombardier and ...more

Sorry you are wrong and false hope is what that is. TD came out and said the Alstom development is  weighing on the bomber and that's not because they  will receive anything. The bomber has stated they will fight any claims made by Alstom and may challenge YOUR claim. The request for arbitration was made by Alstom after their filing. The stock has been under pressure since he news ...more

Alstom did their own evaluation and decided to pay 400 mill less. At that time Bombardier had agreed to close deal and contest the lower valuation later. Arbitration was one of the mechanism mentioned at that time to settle this difference in valuation. So if anything it will be Alstom that has potential to lose as they are holding on to 400 mill in dispute. If they come back and say the amount ...more

Thanks Bull, This is exactly how I see this. Worst case BBD gets nothing from these 400M  Best case they get the full amount whithold.
Comment by bago on Apr 28, 2022 1:16pm
What exactly is Bombardier fighting then? Why would this weigh on shares as TD states? What was Alstom's filing for? If the bomber feels it is owed the money why haven't they taken legal action? What bigger issues in your opinion is  pressuring the share price?
Comment by Bullvsbear99 on Apr 28, 2022 1:30pm
Bombardier is asking for their 400 mill. Alstom is using same arbitration process to prevent Bombardier from asking for the 400 mill. Besides TD what other analysis has said the same? As explained earlier the contract between Bombardier and Alstom has the arbitration process built in to the contract to be used to settle differences. And thats exactly whats happening. It doesn't matter who ...more

I hope you are right and TD was reading the situation wrong. Anything the bomber  would get would be welcomed. I am in agreement on the supply chain issues but think inflation will rise  costs which they will have to pass on to the consumer. I guess first step is to look at Q1 and see what we can  read from that. If they can exceed expectaions in Q1 in a pretty harsh environment ...more

Bago - Questions and answers for answers... Q: Why would this weigh on shares as TD states? A: What about the other banks, are they as worried as TD? (rhetorical question) Q: What was Alstom's filing for? A: Maybe because they feel like that didn't really know what they signed for and want Bombardier to pay for their mistakes when it comes to due diligence. Q: If the bomber feels it is ...more

Hey Bagel. I'm going to answer every question for you benefit. Just so that you don't keep questioning everyone so much here. The way I see it. I'm not too far off too, because I know the history here. I'm invested heavily in the Bomber as you know, so I make it my business to know everything about the company's affairs. Further, I have a good backgroung in Business ...more
