BCE Inc > Nope - Not a Dividend Cut

Nope - Not a Dividend Cut

....But nice try Nonscense1.  Have a read of Page 1 and then Page 43 of this attachment (I do hope you can read). You guys just never let up.  s70723-20162302-331156.pdf (sec.gov)

The least you could do is try and make yourself a bit less obvious!

For those here that can't figure out why BCE stock dropped nearly 10% since the Ex-Div date on Dec 14th, have a read of the attachment and then it will all make sense.  And also go back a year in the charts and have a look at what happens to BCE stock prices right on or very close to each Ex-Div date.  Greed and corruption at its finest...nothing new.  And this extends well beyond BCE.

And for those that missed this recent New York Court ruling, maybe...just maybe, we have a chance once the investigations and lawsuits get going.  Amazing how this news was hardly mentioned in the mainstream media....certainly don't recall hearing a mention of this on BNN market call, CNBC, etc.  Gee I wonder why that is?  The only additional thing the Judge missed in her ruling was that Brokerages-Dealers should be required to get a share owner's permission before they can borrow your shares for shorting instead of making us all sign that they can borrow our shares anytime.

Good luck to all the retail investors, because we need it with all the shenanigans that our so called regulators allow to occur and have been allowing for decades!

Quintessential1....you must of missed my previous post or perhaps hope that by bringing up the "Dividend Cut?"  headline up yet again to get it at the top of the board posts might trigger someone to sell more of their cheap BCE shares...if not, then have a read and educate yourself on how this game is really played.  The technicals are showing BCE is bottoming and will have a ...more

I repond to post that I want to and his was one.   I usually cross the street when I see conspiracy theorists coming because I consider them dangerous morons that add no value to my existance.  You're no exception.   I see no signs in the technicals that the stock has bottomed  but we'll see if it can hold this support level that it fell through before.  ...more

Quint....yep I am market weight for now but am considering going overweight. Interestingly, the close yesterday was aproximately (a few cents below) the closing price on March 20 2020 when the panic on COVID hit its depth.  On that day the intraday low hit 49 and change and I bought some then as an overweight position (along with others like CM, ENB) and later sold the overweight positions ...more

Well for BCE and other tele-coms times are worse than when covid was a threat as people were locked down and chained to their media with near zero percent interest rates.  Current recession fears and high interest rates add very real costs and threats to telcos and media provider's bottom lines so yeah, probably worse for them than when people had no other entertainment choice and needed ...more

Quint --- valid point I suppose but those prices in March 2020 reflected a panic in general world-wide.  People were dumping shares of everything. Not what we are facing today even with the possible threat of a downturn next year.  As for the dividend...yep.  In fact the dividend today is about 16%  above where it was back then - .9675 vs .8325 on a quarterly basis.
Comment by JayBanks on Dec 28, 2023 5:51pm
For everyone talking about the dividend: The most important dividend date of the year happens first week in February, as that is the announcement date for what is usually yearly increases. That's where you will get the indications of what to expect going forward for payouts. I'm in the camp that it will continue to be raised about 5ish% so, expecting between $1.01-1.015 per quarter ...more

I like your synopsis and would be curious to know what price your limit order has been placed at? Do you see the share price moving back down or has it reversed and entered a new uptrend? GLTY and all

50 shares at $51.50 in my taxable account to get me to 200 shares is my current order. I hold anouther 103 in my TFSA. It was an overweight position years ago when I initially jumped in (my 3rd highest position), but I found more interesting places to put new money in over the years and it wasn't compelling enough to add new money to either, now I'd say it's fallen to an ...more

I picked up my 50 shares this morning... unfortunately, @ 53.75 as there was resistance in that area this morning after the initial spike, I thought there was better odds it would move back higher above 54 as the day wore on not drop further, haha. I'm content, I can sit on my hands (collecting what I expect to be a 7.4% yeild on cost after next week) and wait till upper 60s before I sell a ...more

jaybanks...it is not often I buy stocks like BCE. However I do recognize an opportunity and BCE in the lower 50's is one. I do have another bid in at 51.00.

I'd say this has been an opportunity to buy a Canadian Bluechip since it broke 60 in July. It's wild it has dipped 50 and stayed low for 7 months and counting! The growth potential is slowing, but the revenue generation is massive and would need a much larger paradigm shift in telecommunications to change that.
Comment by 1condor on Feb 02, 2024 1:36pm
JayBanks...I look at the technical trading range for BCE to be between 50 to 65 bucks (reason why I am accumulating here in low 50's). A little patience is all you need and collect the 7 percent divvy while you wait.

Hey Honey, you're spot on!  Missed the post somehow.  I think I just spotted the anomaly who is trying to get in for cheap.  I think he missed the memo.  And drop in price post div date is nothing new. I guess there are longs and people who want to make fast money lol

TD Upgraded BCE to a BUY this morning. Yes, it looks like the bottom is in for BCE. Broke the 20, 50, and 100 DMA yesterday.  Next test 200 DMA at $57.36 CAD.  MACD suggests move higher. Should make it to at least $56 soon. Upgraded by TD from a HOLD to a BUY at TD this morning.  TD expects lower bond yields to push investors towards the higer paying dividend payers like Telecoms ...more

From TD ( expecting dividend increase) Event We have tweaked our estimates and target price (see today's telco preview note for more details: LINK). With lower bond-yield forecasts, our BCE target price has increased, which, combined with recent weakness, has pushed us back to BUY. Impact: POSITIVE We believe Q4/23 results expected in February will show that BCE is doing a good job ...more

Aaah!  nostro caro amico,  Valentino Vincenzo.  We discussed him here last summer when he was accusing MaBell of hiding vital info under small print.  Was even insinuating a possible dividend cut. Notice how smoothly he has made the transition to the buy side without ever admitting or apologizing  to us. Ciao
