Increasing interest rates have NEVER stoped inflation. Its old man thinking. Old school. and the head of setting rates IS OLD..same in the US

For us OLD people that were working in the late 70s/early 80s, I can guarantee you that the only thing that got inflation under control was sky high interest rates. Our mortgage rate in the early 80s was 20%. I think Karl has some really valid points that inflation is harder to tame than most people think and that's under normal circumstances. Hey Sarge, that's about the best summary I've seen of challenges we face as Canadians in the fight against inflation.  And to think, it comes from someone of the OLDer generation to boot . . . will wonders never cease!

Increasing interest rates has always slowed inflation (no one wants it stopped).
