From cars to e-scooters and e-bikes, booming demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is showing no sign of slowing. While they help reduce emissions, EVs also pose a new safety risk for first responders.  
 
During an accident, the lithium-ion batteries can catch fire, which is difficult to extinguish and can release dangerous off-gassing, including hydrogen fluoride (HF).  
 
Fire Services expert, Doug Mayer, shares strategies for mitigating this risk. Real-time connected multi-gas detectors play a crucial role by alerting first responders to the presence of dangerous gases.
