Looks like some of the Prefers are starting to move UP

It will be interesting to watch the " T's " given the short volume.

I think the Crazy Shorts are still shorting... Guessing past few weeks they targeted the "C and E"..

You got to be CRAZY....  You are looking at getting/paying FOREVER MINIMUM YIELD of about 10.625%    on the E's at $12.   That's Minimum Forever basically, even if the 5 year rate goes to Zero.

Just CRAZY.

All just my opinion/view/thinking/guessing... could be wrong, after all I'm the "Crazy" Trader.

I have to wonder why on earth anyone would short these preferreds, as they are guaranteed by Brookfield.

NJ: We all want to believe that they are guaranteed by Brookfield Corporation (BN) .... cuz they are a BN subsidiary ... but that is not a 100% guarantee. And be assured that I am not a shorter .... holding abt $250k of 2 BPO prefs in our non-registered account. So I really really do not want to encounter a default or dividend suspension!!! Cheers!

If I am off base on that, I would welcome some direction to the contrary.

NJ: Given the byzantine corporate structures used within the Brookfield entities, I'm not sure if anyone can address this issue definitively. Absolutely, subsectors like Brookfield Renewable and Brookfield Infrastructure will not collapse. However, if office real estate proves to be a drag on the entirety, could BN default on BPO obligations ... rather like amputating a gangrenous toe to save ...more

Thanks. I was just wondering if you had read what I saw. I guess I'll have to get off my azz and try to find it again. If I do, I will post it here.

CanSiamCyp, just my opinion, IF  BN is now a Guarantor, then I'm guessing the answer to your question is NO, unless BN goes bankrupt.  Just my opinion.   But if BN is not a Guarantor, then I'm guessing the answer to your question is YES, the subsidary cut along with BPO Guarantor.    But there are several Guarantors... I think 8 in total. So, that the BIG ...more
