RE:RE:RE:HUGE increases in Short Positions

RE:RE:RE:HUGE increases in Short PositionsGood morning,

I agree with Pierre that the short report this morning was driving todays activity.  And I agree with Rod on the relative value trade.

Just for edification, the E series total volume over the period was 295,780 and total short trade volume was 175,000 or a staggering 59%!

I am still in the camp that a 200,000 short position is still only 2% of the issue and if someone knew something really special, then the short positions would be much much higher.

I think we are investors in an illiquid stock and small short positions can have a dramatic influence.

This is why I was shocked management let the Junk rating actually happen.  I fully expect BPY to be more aggressive in 2024 to change sentiment towards its real estate empire.  They will only allow mud to be thrown at them for so long.

Also note, BPO has $350 million in senior debt coming due on March 1, 2024.

Have a good day,
Carena
