I am not a trader, and see an excellent rebound for BTE at some point in the future. That being said, I definitely see the value in being able to identify something like $7.50+ being a peak, selling off and repurchasing lower.
How can I identify situations like this correctly in the future? Big sudden drops are easier for me to deal with, but this slow price decay since July keeps me waiting day after day for a move back upwards.
Patience my friend. If you aren't a trader and see an excellent rebound, why would you be selling this at sub $5. This is a steal. I'm loading up here. We are at the bottom of the current trading range and Fed will announce no rate hike. OPEC will talk this up now to the high end of the range again and if there is a freeze, it will break out. You really don't want to be selling right now. Buy more!
