You need to be 'holding" shares at the ex-divy date. It can take up to 3 days for the system to recognize the purchase date although in most cases 2 days is sufficient. So in BTE's case a purchase on the 11th would qualify your shares.

To get the dividend you need to be "holding" the shares at the end of the Date of Record. Date of Record is the day before the ex-dividend date. Ex-Dividend date is the first day the stock trades without the dividend.

Exactly. All you have to remember is hold the stock overnight the DAY BEFORE the exdividend date- that's it.

Overnight takes you to the ex-divy da lol. So on the morning of the ex-divy date is the day you can sell.

Since the system needs 2 days to recognize the transaction, if I sold shares on 13th or 14th, do I still get the dividend?

If you sold the shares on the 13th, no If you owned the shares at the close of the 13th and sold them on the 14th, yes

Actually, I have conflicting information. My BMO trading account is showing the stock is ex-dividend as of the 14th When I look at the news release it is showing ex-dividend as of the 16th (date of record the 15th) Assuming the press release on Batyex is correct as long as you owend the sharfes as of the close of the 15th trading day you will get the dividend. That is strange

Got it the date of record in the notice is taking the time to record the purchase. It is ex-dividend as of the 14th so as long as you owned the shares at the close of the 13th you get the dividend.

You're right--that is, you can sell as early as the ex-dividend date, and you stil get that dividend, which is paid a few weeks later.

That's my confusion, I guess if I sell on 14th, in tsx's system I still own it 14th, 15th until 16th So 14th is the date in broker's system, 16th in tsx system?

And for you to own it own the 14th, your purchase should be on the 12th.

If you're not a holder of the stock on October 02, you won't get anything.
