RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Have any of you invest"If BXI truly has a unique way of doing things whywould they not want to protect it the way BU does? If BXI's way isso, 'unique' and not profoundly protected, what is stopping companieslike ADM to do it themselves? "

If I understand correctly, BXI has one or several patents protecting their unique oil extraction process. This is the low temperature process they constantly tout as their edge, and involves the use of a refrigerant to "wash" the oil out of the meal. The value of this is to not toast the meal, thereby not denaturing the protein. This is a patent granted and owned by BXI.

Burcon, by the way, also has a low temp oil extraction process, although you would think otherwise based on statements from the BXI camp.

I also understand that BXI has applied for a patent relating to a process to extract their protein from the meal, although they have not received notice of allowance on this patent. This is an area of risk, in that the patent may not be granted. If it is granted, BXI also has such protection.
