Opportunity in ownership disputes

Opportunity in ownership disputeshttps://www.nationalpost.com/todays-paper/Opportunity+ownership+disputes/3893041/story.html

One dispute that remains to be settled is Canaco Resources Inc. and Sonora Gold & Silver Corp. Sonora has an option on mining licence number 413/2010 in Tanzania. That option is located, however, within a larger area covered by Canaco's prospecting licence. In a press release, Sonora says it has "made numerous attempts to contact Canaco, but Canaco has not responded to any of these attempts." No matter, the dispute is going to the Commissioner of Mines for the country, who notes that it is "in the interest of the Government of Tanzania" to see that the entire property is developed into a large-scale mine and the two companies are required to "hold discussions to resolve their business arrangement amicably." I would imagine this dispute gets settled prior to year-end.

What's the lesson here? Well, if one of your gold companies gets caught in an ownership dispute, the first thing to do is take a deep breath -- these disputes are fairly common. In addition, if some other company wants what your company does, well, at least you know you have something valuable. Finally, if you've been paying attention: Notice that often, once ownership is finally clarified, the winning company usually gets taken over.
