RE:RE:Canfor Pulp (CFX)Certainly acquiring CFX would be a lot cheaper than a lumber producer in the current environment.  They would be acquiring at the bottom of the pulp cycle.

I always thought a Mercer and Canfor Pulp merger could be interesting as well.  I'm not sure about valuations but perhaps an asset swap between Canfor and mercer could be on strategy.  Canfor sells its CFX interest to Mercer and Mercer sells its european lumber business to Canfor (Friesau sawmill).

Of course who knows on timing with these potential M&A deals.  On the plus side, CFX should finally start contributing to CFP's earnings/cash flows and could be ripe for M&A in some form.
