 Hello, I am interested in Chorus debentures and I have a question that I cannot find an answer to, regardless of the debenture. If I buy a debenture with interest paid on November 30, by what date do I have to buy them to be entitled to interest. Is there an end date (ex-interest) like with dividends? Thanks in advance.

When you buy a debenture, you pay the seller the accrued interest, and on the next payment date, you get the entire payment.  At tax time, you will get a T5 for the entire amount and have to remember to claim the accrued interest you paid the seller.  If you don't, you will be taxed on your own money that was paid back to you.  The net effect is you get paid the interest from ...more

Why do you bother with debentures? There is one expert on this board. His nick is Tommy and he  predicted  $ 2 price.I would wait. Lol. It looks like lot  of investors can't stomachache this Feds/ bankers inflation game . Feds/ central bank stopped  the printers and banks have to raise the money old ways  so high inflation is handy.
