Buying back shares

seems like a waste of money . I would rather have a dividend and pay down debt . If oil drops back to $ 40 people will worry about  a companies debt level and not how many shares they have out .


Nuttalls wanted Cardinal and others to buy back shares then complains he can't buy stocks like Cardinal because the float is to small .

Everyone will have their own opinion, the reason for buyback is how they see the value of the company it future cash flows. Debt is not a concern for this company, it is well below $50M by now. The company believes in the future of oil and so does many others, they know their dividend is safer in the $60 range. Thus they are buying the shares now to reward the longterm holders who cam wait longer ...more

But a Compamies concern shouldn't be about the Big Boys Margin or portfolio..it needs be about running and growing the Company first and foremost albeit requiring a degree of compromiise across all the levels to mkeep mthe ship righted and not giving away future leverage capability , by having cash in reserve, and overall control on the Financial Statements.. Respectfully of course they have to worry about the big boys and girls, they control the voting interest. They have the most at risk and they believe this is the startegy that will make the most money. This is why the CEO goes the route as well satisfy the people who can take away their jobs.
