The concern is when  the NAV gets reduced as a result of paying out the dividend. This would likely include paying from capital gains as that is included in the NAV when rebalancing the portfolio ...more

jjmax, when they say ROC are they not referring to capital gains as a source of earnings? I have no problem with fund managers paying out dividends from capital gains. Here is a segment from BNN's ...more

 I still find it amazing that we can still get yields of 16%(HEF), 17%(HEX), 18%(HEE) and 19%(HEP).Take a look at the portfolios of each fund.  All solid mostly blue chip Canadian stocks ...more
