Wright told analysts over a year ago that he would only say if the deal was immediately profitable
Doesnt want to directly disclose what crh paid
can you imagine the sour taste one might have if you got x times for 51 percent while another is getting y
And your negotiating a deal at c
you are a smart guy, you know the truth try speaking it
peter, are you saying CRH does not want to disclose what they paid for an acquisition at the time they announce it because they are worried that the owners of other acquisition targets will be interested in discovering how much that business received from CRH and take that into consideration when determining what they want in return for interest in their operation.....?
If true, this makes CRH look even worse in my view as it insults the intelligence of other targets with whom CRH is negotiating.......
If you were negotiating a potential sale of your business to CRH and learned that they acquired a similar Business X but didn't reveal the compensation paid, wouldn't you:
a) Be interested in what CRH paid for that business?
b) Wonder why CRH is hiding this information from you while you're negotiating with them. After all, CRH has the opportunity to explain to you why they paid what they did for Business X and why the compensation they are offering you would be in line with what they gave Business X given the assets / interest they wish to purchase from you?
Further, if the compensation paid to Business X was important to you, you could simply wait until the next quarterly earnings report is released to find out what CRH paid for Business X before completing any deal with CRH, thus making CRH (and CRH shareholders ) wait longer before securing an agreement that would otherwise be the case if CRH has just been up front with market players by revealing the compensation when they announce the deal........Not to mention the fact that these potential targets have the opportunity at any time to simply review past quarterly reports to discover what the compensation paid to the parties of all previous acquisitions made by CRH was....
In other words, I think this practice simply risks promoting distrust and delays among other potential takeover targets towards CRH management / negotiators…….Not a wise practice in my opinion……..
