colonoscopy, a case studyThree months ago my brother experienced some stomach problems and the doctors could not find anything wrong with him. Finally one doctor recommended that he take a rare test for cancer, that doctors don't usually recommend. That test, i forgot the name of the test, detects that in some part of your body, there is cancer at the very early stage.Yet they could not determine where the cancer was. Then they started all sort of tests, from colonoscopy, to MRI, CT, etc. Finally they did a biopsy of the stomach and they came to the conclusion the cancer was in the stomach at a very early stage and hardly visble by an MRI or any other test, save biopsy. They had to remove his whole stomach and because the cancer was at its very early stage, he has a good chance for survival. The point here is that colonoscopy was used as a primary method of checking for cancer. The other methods of stool analyis etc. was not recommended as being unreliable. So, it's my belef that colonoscopy is here to stay as the most reliable screening method for cancer .
