Reminder: in-court arguments for the lawsuit challenging federal prohibition will be held next week on May 22 at 10:30 am David Boies has racked up victory after victory, defending IBM, CBS, Apple v. Samsung, and more. Hollingsworth v. Perry (2013): Boies played a pivotal role in overturning California's Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage. United States v. Microsoft Corporation (2001): Boies led the government's case against Microsoft, resulting in a landmark antitrust ruling that reshaped the technology industry. The plaintiffs want the case to go to the Supreme Court. DOJ asked the judge to dismiss the suit, saying they did not demonstrate "a substantial risk of future enforcement". The DOJ also referenced the ongoing federal marijuana rescheduling process in its argument – and asked the court not to "disrupt or get ahead of that process" It will be a comical spectacle watching the US government try to defend prohibition after HHS dropped 252 pages of scientific evidence showing the medical benefits of cannabis.
