CanexusEveryone agrees NATO was a bad move that was delailed with high cost overruns.
I believe one of the reasons it went ahead was due to the permits that were held the chances of getting permit appoval to duplicate that site would be very difficult today.
In the case of North Van. it sits on prime land, to build today would cost at least 300 million excluding the land value never mind that permits would never be granted today.
Second cheapest power rates in Canada.
North Van. has always been a big cash cow.
