CANEXUS CORP 6.5 PCT DEBS > A positive surprise may be coming in Q1

A positive surprise may be coming in Q1

One of my beefs with management has been how conservative they are.  They talk about the 50 million in new cash flow not starting until Q4.  However the trains started in Dec and they have not said how much cash flow these extra trains will contribute.  We know some of Q4 revenue moved to Q1 but add the extra trains and I think we may have an upside surprise coming.  That is probably why the financial syndicate had no problem paying 5.60 a share.
Comment by BFYTW2013 on Jan 25, 2014 4:36pm
There's no surprise to the upside coming in Q1. Q4 will be bad news due to operational issues at Bruderheim. And transloading profits in Q1 will be wiped out by massive demurrage charges incurred when they ordered too many trains in December and those trains sat in sidings for weeks, waiting to load. This dog don't hunt.

Very interesting post BFYTW2013. If this is indeed true, then a few folks from the BOD and management will most likely be sued by the Underwriters of the recent share issue... Kherson
Comment by BFYTW2013 on Jan 26, 2014 8:21pm
What about issuing mis-leading press releases? What would the underwriters think about that? On August 12, 2013, Canexus stated, in a press release, that the $225 Million project included 'capital spending to facilitate large scale movements from rail to pipeline of condensate in the future'. This is, in fact, not true and the unit train facility has zero capacity for offloading condensate ...more

Any CFO who allows a balance sheet to erode as CUS's has should be tarred, and feathered then fired.   The fact that people defend him on here and I nstead attack a poster that calls him out for the fool he is, yepp, it indicates the level of stupidity of many of the posters on here.
Comment by Kherson on Jan 26, 2015 9:27am
As you know Calgaryrider, I had/have been calling for the firing of both the former CEO and CFO for about a year now. The BOD did half the job, I am just waiting for them to complete it... One has to ask, what exactly were the financial controls when the Blunderheim expansion was being initiated and why did these controls fail so miserably? It would seem to me that the CFO dropped the ball ...more

LOL!!! Kherson - wouldn't a more logical explanation be - I came back on this site - when the price of CUS was trading at 50% lower than what I sold it for - and decided now was the time to get back in so I can capture a $2.70 average cost and wait this out? When presented with the simplest explanation - you manage to leap to the the most absurd conspiracy as the basis for your arguments ...more

Sorry BRFYW but I'm not buying it.  The history on your profile shows only one post.  Hmmm.  You have no way of knowing if there was 'massive' demurrage charges especially since they delayed the trains months before December.  And finally, if there was any minor demurrage charges they would be in Q4 not Q1.
Comment by dask on Jan 26, 2014 7:55pm
In its Jan 16th news release the company told us the Q4 would be weak because of delay and weather, however because of this delays Q 1 would benifit. The Company Mgt has done a lot of damage in that it made the annoucement with the overrun so that the share price could be driven down in order to allow the Banks a bought deal at $ 5.60 or great discount from the market price, therefore this Mgt ...more

They are facing charges of >$500,000 for the demurrage of two trains over New Years. Current monthly operating costs are around $300k (set to rise). If they load 12 trains December/January, they'll make about $800k (optimistic). Break even, at best. And they are in the red if someone expenses lunch. Never mind $50 million in cash flow annually. At least, that's what a little bird told ...more

BFYTW2013, I for one do appreciate your information. No doubt now in my mind that Canexus has been hiding alot from their investors. I also see that they are looking for some highly trained folks to operate the place in Buderheim. Those folks should have been on board before this... So, BFYTW2013, are you saying that they won't be able to make the kind of money at Buderheim as they ...more

gees did this board ever change in a week.. all doom and gloom now.. I would put no stock in posts from accounts made just to dump on cus.. as for suing the company.. not going to happen.. and your open letter to BOD.. I don't think they are going to read it.. the entire market has crashed in the last two sessions.. given that cus has done ok..
Comment by Kherson on Jan 27, 2014 4:18pm
Itsalis, don't bet the farm on that just yet. What is really going on at Buderheim will soon be passing under the auditor's eyes. Anyone buying now is really rolling the dice... Kherson

Hey Kherson.  I agree with you about management.  Totally irresponsible not to disclose the cost overrun sooner.  For the sake of disclosure, I'm ready to buy 4,000 shares here but am waiting to see if a price drop might happen.  Not today but maybe tomorrow.  Difference between me and the new poster is that I won't make things up to get what I want.  Anyway ...more

Hawk35, you do make some good points, but so do our new posters, in my opinion. But why would you buy now with what I believe is too much uncertainity concerning Canexus? To the new posters, I for one do appreciate your information and if you do have more interesting tidbits, please post. Whether we agree or disagree, the SH forum is a great way to exchange information and ideas. My good friend ...more

Sorry BRYTW but you need to understand how demurage actually works.  That is how I know your a fake.  You and your other friend who also has a new profile must be really sad that the stock closed up 2 cents after all that effort.  But your target is not just this stock is it?  Be honest with us.

Keep in mind that the poster BFYTW2013 posted on January 25th that Blunderheim was having operational issues during Q4 and transloading profits will be wiped out in Q1. At that time, I posted on this board for the BOD to now carry out their fiduciary duties and look into this allegation as I believed at the time that it had merit. Runner 115 and Kherson,  Yes, if Q4 reflects the speculation noted, SP will get slammed. But, Kherson in particular, don't mistakenly try to draw similar conclusions to PSN. The company has an established core business. You are right about the value of the core business and the rail business has value that grows every day especially with Keystone and other pipelines being delayed.  Sensational stories and conspiracy theories belong in the tabloid magazines.  There could be more bad news on Thursday but I doubt it will be scandalous or sensational.  If it ...more

Actually Roxy27, when I made my call back in the middle of February about Gary being shown the door, it was my worst case scenario. If the problems are only confined to Blunderheim, then the Vice President of NATO should have been terminated, not the CEO. Also for the BOD to now install a member of the BOD as the acting CEO tells me that the BOD have lost all trust in management ...more
