Cenovus Energy Inc > CVE is an investor in generalfusion

CVE is an investor in generalfusion

CVE participated in a very early round of funding for this Canadian company that is developing a fusion reactor. In the last year, the firm saw Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Shopify's Lutke inject capital. Maybe CVE should throw a few more bucks at this dark horse. If successful, the payout would absolutely dwarf any return from their current business. Better this than wind or solar which will never meet the world's energy demand.  The total raised by GeneralFusion to date is only ~$200M. This for a technology that could solve the world's energy problems forever. Peanuts compared to the ~$30B the ITER project is expected to cost. ITER uses the conventional tokomak reactor approach that has been worked on for decades without success, while GeneralFusion is thinking out of the box.

>>>A 2011 Series B round raised $19.5 million from a syndicate including Bezos Expeditions, Braemar Energy Ventures, Business Development Bank of Canada, Cenovus Energy, Chrysalix Venture Capital, Entrepreneurs Fund, and Pender Ventures.[50][51]

>>>In January 2021, the company announced funding by Shopify founder Tobias Ltke’s Thistledown Capital, bringing total funding to well over $192 million.[55]

Canadian company?  We are not even a member country.   I would prefer that CVE keep investing in proven renewable technologies that can garner some carbon credits and reduce its carbon footprint rather than invest in experimental energy projects that have no payback time line. Not ITER that's in France. I was referring to General Fusion in BC. CVE was an early investor. Sure fusion is a longshot, but the payback for whatever company solves it first will be gigantic. https://generalfusion.com/management-research-team-investors/#investors

If a SPAC was to take the company public, I'd absolutely be a buyer.

GeneralFusion back in the news. CVE was an early investor. I wonder if they could get carbon credits for that or future investments? >>>Burnaby-based General Fusion, a company backed by Jeff Bezos and Cenovus Energy Inc., harbours ambitions as big as they come: it wants to master nuclear fusion, essentially the same process that generates heat in the sun....Last week, Chris Mowry, chief ...more

China has already done it.    They Built one and manage to maintain nuclear fusion for I think over a minute I believe.  They call it thier artificial SUN.    So, it's possible, Fusion. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/energy/a36630528/china-artificial-sun-breaks-fusion-world-record/#:~:text=1%20China%20has%20set%20a%20new%20record%20for,far%20off%20from ...more

I think you also have a serious mental problem/issue.   If you want to know yourself also, stop going around calling other people lazy and do it yourself.     Besides, 99% of the time investor relations never answer me.    I guess they don't like to listen to what I have to say.... kind of like everyone else. Seriously... Go back and look at the Thread on ...more

RB It was a few million dollars, back in 2011. They only participated in that one round. See the section 'Funding" at the  link below https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Fusion
