Yeah........alot of people have no idea of the pitfalls regarding rrsp's. My dad has a sizeable one and my mom has no income other than cpp. If my dad withdraws he is nailed big time............if he had a spousal my mom could make withdrawals and not be penalized as much (depending on the withdrawal). Ps francon my dad blames me for not having put him in a spousal. As if I knew about that crap when I was younger. He should have seen a financial planner. He's your age but I tell him he did just fine as his family house has appreciated some ten times his original investment. Doubt my generation will ever see that (lol). Take care.
