Totally agree with Dean on lazy, left wing BC people especially on the coast (interior people are much better - hard working, etc. I grew up in BC but moved to AB in 1982 when I was 29. Best thing I ever did. Definitely proud of being an Albertan. Not so pleased about doing more than our share with our HUGE transfer payments. As an aside, I'd vote for separation in a milli-second.
Anyway, on the personal income taxes. You should check all your facts. I just did a taxtips test and a person with OAS of 8600, CPP of 10,500, and dividends of 50,000 pays total tax of $1935 in BC compared $2954 in AB. That's a whooping 52.7% more.

The average income in Alberta has been higher than the Canadian average for a few decades now.
ALL Candians pay federal income taxes at the very same rates. Provincial taxes vary greatly.
Albertans pay the lowest fed.+prov. income taxes in the country. On100k of taxable income Albertans pay 4K LESS in taxes than QC residents and 6K LESS than NB residents.
Because AB is the only province that does not have a sales tax Albertans pay 7 to 10% LESS for their goods than ALL other Canadians....and on their way back from the mall when they stop to fill up their pickups they pay at least 30% LESS at the pumps than all other Canadians.
Gee you got it tough over there in AB, eh?

I live in BC...we pay federal income taxes, we don't get equalization payments either....and yet you never hear anybody around here complain about it. It seems that's ALL you hear coming out of AB over and over and over again. I wonder why that is.... Heck, we don't even complain that we paid for a pipeline to get oil out of Alberta to tideawater for the first time.
The way things are going, I'm waiting for Danielle Smith to demand a refund of Alberta's share of taxes that fund the Canadian Navy because Alberta doesn't border an ocean!

But why stop there?? Why not complain about the Feds building a 34 billion dollar pipeline??? With not a dollar of contribution from Alberta? What an outrage that Ottawa can just meddle in provincial matters like that, eh? Or complain about Ottawa kicking in 1.5 Billlion for that transit line in Calgary that had been planned for TEN YEARS...but the province and city could never seemed to find the money for it.
The NERVE of the Feds to stick their noses in there, eh?
