Well a buyer of puts uses them to protect himself against downside. If you were to believe the downside is over, you'd sell your put contracts and get on board on the bullish side with calls. 
Suppose we are to be bought out at 65$ CAD ( figurative only ), you could make money by buying calls @40 and resell them at a higher premium later on. Great leverage at play.
